Rugby league returns to Canada this weekend

Rugby league returns to the enjoying fields of British Columbia this weekend with a 9s event for women and men.

Dan Tate, director of growth for the Canada Rugby League Affiliation, commented:  “In what has been a turbulent 18 months, Canada Rugby League are excited to see plans and schedules in place to return to play all through the provinces.

“Clearly there are a variety of restrictions that every province has to stick to, however we’re extraordinarily completely satisfied to see rugby balls again within the arms of our members. We’ve lots to look ahead to over the approaching months – not least the Canada Ravens girls showing within the World Cup – and are working diligently to maintain progressing our programmes and creating our athletes, as we proceed to develop consciousness and participation within the provinces of Canada.”

Paul Fogerty, president of Rugby League British Columbia, added:  “We’ve been in a position to get again to coaching with full contact since 15 June when the Provincial Well being Officers laws have been lifted in British Columbia. A ‘Return to Contact’ guideline was supplied to the RLBC golf equipment forward of the season along with our ‘Return to Play’ doc that was initially put in place in June 2020.

“We’ve the 9s event happening this Saturday 10 July, with 5 males’s and three girls’s groups competing. The boys’s common season will begin the next weekend, which is able to entail 5 weeks of fixtures earlier than the Grand Ultimate. We even have seven weeks of actions for the ladies’s competitors together with two 9s tournaments, attempt league classes in addition to a 3 recreation collection between two of our groups, ending on the Grand Ultimate weekend.”
